After announcing the closures in early March, ANZ was forced to postpone closures in Bicheno, Bridport and Cygnet for six to eight weeks after receiving backlash from customers and small business owners.
Ms Rattray questioned whether ANZ had fully considered the effect the decision would have on existing customers in regional areas.
“I have listened to ANZ management promoting the bank as one that is supportive of small business and yet this decision places its commercial customers together with all other ANZ customers in a vulnerable situation,” Ms Rattray said.
“Forcing customers to use post office facilities is a completely inadequate option placing unacceptable limitations on them in terms of the number of services available.”
Ms Rattray also voiced concerns about whether the closures would affect the viability of other regional ANZ branches such as St Helens and Scottsdale.
