The group of about 30 people spent the day door knocking at Riverside in an attempt to secure bipartisan support for Gonski.
The petition hoped to get up to 500 signatures.
It was announced last week that Tasmania could miss out on up to $80 million in federal funding if the Gonski rollout was cut in 2017.
Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said previously that the government would continue to fight for Gonski funding in Tasmania.
Launceston teacher Alison Jales said she was excited to speak to the community about the difference Gonski funding can make to schools.
“It will make a huge difference, it will mean that we’re able to provide better opportunities for students,” Ms Jales said.
“I think the main part of my job is to instill kids with a love of learning and if we lose kids now, they’re not going to have that love.”
