The rider was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital by helicopter after colliding with a light truck at the intersection of the Arthur Highway and Nubeena Road, Taranna, on the Tasman Peninsula, about 9.20am.
Tasmania Police said the rider was in a critical but stable condition after being treated and stabilised by emergency services at the scene.
``Investigations at the scene revealed the truck driver had failed to give way to oncoming traffic before commencing a right hand turn resulting in the motor bike colliding head on with the truck,'' police said.
``Speed and alcohol were not a contributing factor to the crash.''
Police and Ambulance Tasmania also responded to three other motorcycle crashes at Hoblers Bridge Road intersection, Newstead, Ellendale Road, Ellendale and at Poatina.
Tasmania Police said the three other crashes were minor.
Police said strong winds across the state are likely to have contributed to the crashes and reminded motorists to drive to the conditions.
