Beaconsfield man Phillip Mark Frost, 42, was serving a suspended sentence at the time, which he breached with his new offending.
Frost had previously pleaded guilty to a raft of driving, drugs and firearms offences, including reckless driving and the possession of a sawn-off .22 rifle and 237 rounds of .22 ammunition without a firearms licence.
In the Launceston Magistrates Court on Thursday, Chief Magistrate Michael Brett activated Frost's two-month suspended sentence, backdated to February 3.
Mr Brett cumulatively imposed eight months' jail for Frost's new offending and imposed the special penalty of $600 under anti-hoon laws.
He also ordered Frost to complete a 12-month probation order and disqualified him from driving for two years upon release.
The court previously heard that Frost, a five-time disqualified driver, had admitted his sixth offence under drink and drug-driving laws.
His reckless driving occurred in Exeter on Wednesday, May 6, last year, during school pick-up time.
Frost failed to stop for police who tried to intercept him at the intersection of Beaton Street and the West Tamar Highway and he drove on the wrong side of the road.
Other drivers had to swerve out of his path to avoid colliding with him head-on and some were even forced off the road.
