FORMER Western Bulldogs footballer Paul Francis Dimattina has appeared in Hobart's Magistrate Court charged with common assault.

Mr Dimattina, 41, appeared in the court but did not enter a plea.
Magistrate Sam Mollard bailed Mr Dimattina to appear on April 19.
He imposed a condition that Mr Dimattina not enter Hobart's Nant Whisky Cellar and Bar, where the alleged assault took place.
Mr Dimattina played 131 games for the Western Bulldogs before being delisted at the end of the 2003 season.
He and his family own a number of high-profile restaurants in Melbourne and on the Gold Coast.
