Tasmania Police has received reports of threatening phone calls being made to schools around Tasmania.

However, police believe these calls are unsubstantiated, would not be able to be followed through, and appear to be coming from overseas.
"There is no evidence these are anything other than hoaxes designed to cause unnecessary disruption and inconvenience and are consistent with threats made to schools in other states," a Tasmania Police statement said.
Police are liaising with the Department of Education to investigate the calls further.
The number or locations of schools affected have not been disclosed, but are following the appropriate safety and response procedures.
Tasmania Police has urged anyone with any information in relation to the threats to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
