A SeaRoad truck has been destroyed in the fire.
The truck driver escaped without injury.
The fire also burnt 50 meters of vegetation on the side of the highway.
EARLIER: A TRUCK fire on the Bass Highway near Parramatta Creek is causing considerable traffic delays.
Lanes are completely blocked and diversions are in place.
Tasmania Police is at the scene and advises to keep windows shut in the area, ''as fumes from the smoke are apparently quite unpleasant''.
``Please follow the directions of officers conducted point duties around the scene,'' police said.
All eastbound traffic is being diverted via Chapel Road to Exeter.
All westbound traffic is being diverted via Elizabeth Town to Railton.
