The Rotary run event is now in its fourteenth year and has attracted entrants from as far abroad as Switzerland to compete in its highly contested wood-chopping event.
Swiss nationals Mattheas Knorr, Christian Haller and Jeff Ryser will be vying for over $10,000 prize money across several different wood-chopping categories.
Mr Haller said the trio had decided to come to Tasmania to learn wood chopping.
"We thought we'd come over because all the best axemen in the world live over here," Mr Haller said. "It's an absolutely wonderful place, good for chopping, lovely landscape and a lot of lovely people."
In addition to wood chopping, the regatta will also run kayaking and swimming events, a lamington-eating competition and the much-loved cray pot-toss event.
New to the Regatta lineup will be local business New Things Now who will present their Virtual Reality World including a flight simulator, roller coaster ride through a lounge room and interac©ve jukebox.
There will also be carnival rides and a junior jumping castle for kids. As usual, the Regatta will host a variety of food, wine and beer stalls and will close with a huge fireworks show.
