Ms Nanscawen said this year's festival would again bring music and plenty of family activities to Poatina.
There will be wheelbarrow races, tug-of-war and face painting for families and children, as well as some new drawcards to keep the adults entertained.
"The new things that have emerged are the tours of glass blowing through our arts centre, so there will be three tours during the day to see glass being made," Ms Nanscawen said.
"We've got a new sustainability thread, so people can go to community gardens and learn how to make a worm farm.
"The day is full of activity, lots of different kinds of activity, and it embraces all parts of the family."
The Australia Day address will be given by Lyons Liberal MHA Guy Barnett.
There will be locally produced coffee, and the Poatina Tree Art Gallery will be open for those interested in locally created works.
The day's music will feature Stephen Cooper, Paul Waddell and band One7, and Spike Mason with his wife Lea.
Ms Nanscawen said it was special to see people coming to Poatina every Australia Day.
"They all seem to come along and there's a warmth as they reconnect or connect for the first time," she said. "I don't know what happens, but there is a special moment as the community here in Poatina connects with the rest of Tasmania."
The Australia Day program will run between 11am and 4pm, with the worm farm exhibition running until 5pm.
