In a statement on Monday afternoon Tasmania Police said:
``Sadly, we can confirm two men have passed away on board a vessel moored at Prince of Wales Bay near Hobart today.
``A 58 year old Newnham man and a 56 year old Mowbray man were found on a 10m cruiser vessel by the boat owner this morning.
``Police and fire services have investigated the scene and have ruled out foul play.
``Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this sad time.''
Police are still investigating.
EARLIER: POLICE believe two men found dead on a boat in Hobart are from the Launceston area.
The bodies were discovered on the vessel in Prince's Wharf overnight.
The deaths are not believed to be suspicious, but police are yet to determine how the men died.
Tasmania Police will hold a press conference about the incident on Monday afternoon.
