The man, who is considered to be an experienced bushwalker, was walking the South Cape Range, west of Hobart, with four people when he became lost about 10am on Thursday.
Police were notified on Friday after the other members of the bushwalking party raised the alarm.
Poor weather hampered search and rescue efforts on Friday, but he was located about 9.35am on Saturday.
The missing bushwalker had warm clothes, a tent and sleeping bag, and a small supply of food.
However, he was not carrying the group's emergency positioning indicating radio beacon when he became separated from the walking party.
