Police believe Codan James Viney, aged in his mid-20s, can assist them with inquiries into a series of property crimes in Launceston.
Mr Viney was charged with the theft of The Examiner's Winter Relief donation tin from a Mowbray butcher in 2013.
He was sentenced to eight months' jail in 2014 for more than 20 charges, including stealing, and motor vehicle theft.
