Convicted killer Geoffrey Charles Hunt has on Wednesday attended the coronial inquest examining Ms Butterworth's suspected murder in August 1969.
Coroner Simon Cooper is being shown a police interview with Hunt in May 2014 when he was arrested for the 20-year-old's murder.
In the video, Hunt said he did not know Ms Butterworth.
"I know nothing about the murder," Hunt said.
"I can't help you."
Hunt said he only knew of Ms Butterworth through media reports.
The aspiring model was last seen at a Claremont bus stop 46 years ago.
She was on her way to meet her fiancé John Fitzgerald in New Norfolk.
