The garden has four raised garden beds, constructed from treated pine and sleepers, and one with a greenhouse plastic cover for protecting crops such as tomatoes from frosts.
Paul "green thumbs" Wynter was the ideas man behind the project, which was put together with the help of community members from Mangana, Fingal and St Marys.
"So far we have planted tomatoes, lettuce, beetroot, silverbeet and two varieties of beans," Mr Wynter said.
Community gardening is a healthy, inexpensive activity for people to bring them closer to nature, and allow them to interact with each other in a socially meaningful and physically productive way.
The Fingal Valley Neighbourhood House co-ordinator Deb Speers said the garden would have an ongoing positive impact.
"It is envisaged that any surplus veggies from the garden will assist in building up our "2nd Bite" relief parcels which are given out on a weekly basis through the valley to low-income earners," Ms Speers said.
Ms Speers said she encouraged anyone to call in and see the fabulous work that the community had achieved.
However, ongoing helping hands will be needed to ensure the longevity of the gardens prosperity.
"We of course would love to have more community members involved so please come in," Ms Speers said.
