Luckily, the only falls Launceston indie group The Saxons will be experiencing this year is the Falls Festival after The Examiner’s foster band was voted through to perform at the Marion Bay event.
As a keen Falls patron, frontman Nick Bennett said he was ‘‘absolutely stoked’’ to make the transition from the camping grounds to the VIP tent.
‘‘We’re going to have to make sure we work really hard, getting the set list together the way we want it and getting our energy and stuff up, and get really excited for a big show,’’ he said.
‘‘We’re in the process of writing a couple of new songs at the moment, so it might be a good place to showcase them at Falls, so we’re excited about that as well.’’
Bennett said he was looking forward to seeing a host of familiar faces in the crowd, with the band’s friends and families likely to make the trip to Marion Bay.
‘‘I reckon they will now. They’re all very up and about to get down. I’d just like to say a big thank you to all our mates and stuff who have helped us out heaps, like getting the word around to vote for us. We owe it all to them.’’
The four-piece will represent the state alongside Taroona’s Close Counters and Devonport’s Slow Descent, who were also voted through to play at the New Year’s event.
