Premier Will Hodgman announced the full list of schools selected to implement the $17.75 million literacy and numeracy initiative Learning in Families Together on Tuesday.

Avoca, Beaconsfield, East Tamar and Longford primary schools were included on the list.

"This program fits beautifully with the Gonski principles of targeting funding where it is needed most, so assessment has been done to cover 80 schools where there is the greatest need and to have the greatest impact," Mr Hodgman said.

"LIFT will help us to improve the educational outcomes of young Tasmanians in greatest need by encouraging greater co-operation than ever before between schools, students and their families.

"The program will use multiple platforms to support parents and students and will include planned events, activities and other learning opportunities that promote better learning outcomes."

Tasmanian Association of State Schools Organisation president Ant Dry said the group would welcome any program that helped parents help their children, though noted the detail on its implementation remained "foggy".

"It's fantastic in theory, let's hope it's fantastic in practice," he said.

The program was first announced by Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff in September.
