"I had a great meeting at Sandown a few weeks ago and I sit 10th in the championship, the team and I are looking to build on what we learnt there," Beechey said.
The number 15 Team Kleen Holden has had a bit of a spruce up since the last round as Beechey welcomes Launceston company ACL Bearings to the team.
"It's great to have the local support," said Beechey, whose ute has the ACL logo splashed across the bonnet.
This is Beechey's third assault on the mountain but the first in a ute, which will undoubtedly be daunting for the first few laps.
"I'm looking forward to getting out there, but as a team we look at it realistically, I want to be running in the top 10, maybe even top five, but there are plenty of guys out there who've been doing this for years and have been here plenty of times.
"I'll try and keep it clean and in the top 10, if you can do that you have a better chance of keeping out of trouble."
The utes hit the track at 8.45am on Friday for the first of two 20-minute practice sessions.
