There are some things you just can’t learn in a day.
Luckily, segwaying isn’t one of these things and that’s why people will be coming forward in their droves to try it out at the 2015 Launceston Show, which opens today.
Show president Allan Crawford said at $5 a pop the segway experience was one not to be missed.
‘‘The segways are going to be a big attraction,’’ he said.
‘‘They’re going to be around the roundhouse near where the bands and the entertainment are.’’
Meanwhile, BYO steel-capped gumboots will be strictly prohibited when the show’s inaugural gumboot-throwing competition kicks off at Aurora Stadium at 10am.
Show life member Ross Munro said there was not a universal throwing technique for getting maximum gumboot distance.
‘‘It’s just whichever you feel is your best,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s up to you what you do, some people hold it by the foot because they reckon they’ve got a bigger grip and some people want to hold in right on the end.’’
Show visitors will also be encouraged to guess the weight of Belle the three-year-old Clydesdale mare, who will be available for inspection in the animal nursery.
Guesses are $1 a go.
