Pivot Maritime International was awarded the Maritime Australia Civil Innovation Award in Sydney on Tuesday as part of the Pacific 2015 International Maritime Expo.

The company, led by Dr Jeffery Hawkins, had constructed a 3D interactive model of the Taspac patrol boat to give participants the chance to simulate steering the vessel into Fiji's Suva Harbour.

The simulator will help train merchant navy officers.
