Tamar Valley Resort will host the festival and general manager Damien Pinkerton said that while Grindelwald ran a similar event all those years ago, it was a family day and the Oktoberfest was strictly 18-plus.
"We originally advertised the festival as pre-bookings only, but have decided to accept ticket sales at the door to make it more accessible," he said.
"Tickets cost $25 and everybody gets a free beer stein, but those who pre-book their tickets online will also have access to our free shuttle bus service from Launceston and return.
"The bus will run every hour on Friday and every half-hour throughout Saturday."
Friday's festival action will run from 5pm-11.30pm and Saturday's from noon until 11.30pm.
Mr Pinkerton said that eight bars would be serving nine varieties of beer and cider, Friday's headline act would be Agent 99, with Detour headlining Saturday's entertainment.
There are 21 performances booked for the weekend.
Tickets can be pre-booked via a link at the festival's Facebook page.
