The group will hold an event on Saturday for World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.
Guest speaker Diane Wright will share her 12-year journey to open residential community hospices Anam Cara House Geelong and Anam Cara House Colac.
Friends of the Northern Hospice chairwoman Barb Baker said the regional Victorian areas were of a similar demographic to Northern Tasmania and acknowledged the community support and energy required to open both facilities.
"We know that people can have good deaths and we know some people can't be cared for at home," she said.
"Our push for this hospice is it will be a centre of excellence and a resource centre for all the services."
Friends of the Northern Hospice member Lyn Lichon encouraged "anyone and everyone" to attend Saturday's event.
"(Death) is still a subject people often steer away from talking about," she said.
"It is going to happen to us all and talking about how we want that to happen is not a bad thing."
