In 2015, Tasmania sits in the privileged position of playing host to the Supreme Australian Sheep Dog Championship, a national event that will see all eyes on the state for the week.
The championships will include several different competitions, including selection trial for dogs to compete in the Australian team.
More than 80 dogs will visit the state to compete in the novice section and 125 dogs in the improve and open section.
Tasmanian Working Sheepdog Association president Michael Grant said that the supreme event was biggest three-sheep trial in Australia.
"The first two days will be the heats of the novice for dogs that have never won an event," Mr Grant said.
"We will then start the Ted Gaby competition, which is held between the top two representative from six states and it is state versus state.
"At the end of three heats will be the Australian team to represent Australia against New Zealand in Western Australia this time next year."
Although Campbell Town has hosted the state sheep dog trials for the past three years, the supreme championships are rotated across six different states.
Mr Grant said that the 2015 event has been 12 months in the making.
"There are people travelling from every state and some of those people will spend three or four weeks on the road to get here with their dogs," he said.
"To be a realistic chance to win the supreme, the dog will probably be in between three or four years old or older."
■The Australian Supreme Sheep Dog Trials will be held at the Campbell Town War Memorial Oval from October 12 to 18 from 9am until 4pm.
