ROCK & RODZ is all about wide, chromed wheels and big American cars for Perth’s Nathaniel Riley-Coleman.

The four-year-old was on Sunday in his element among hundreds of hot rods, motorcycles and classic cars.

But he was faced with a tough decision when asked to choose his favourite vehicle, unable to separate a jet black Pontiac Firebird and bright red Pontiac GTO.

Rock & Rodz organising committee secretary Wendy O’Keefe said that the annual Camp Quality fundraiser had maintained its perfect record of sunny weather for its seventh event.

‘‘We’ve had it pour with rain coming up to Rock & Rodz and the ground’s been mud on the Saturday, but the weather has always been perfect on the day, without fail,’’ a delighted Mrs O’Keefe said.

‘‘It’s always really popular and this year’s been no exception, with a bumper crowd packing in for what is the first big car show of the year.

‘‘Raising money for Camp Quality is a good reason to get that car polished up and out there.

‘‘There was a special treat for the blokes this year, with former NASCAR racer Allan Rourk interviewing dry salt lake racing legends Rod Hadfield, the first driver in Australia to exceed 200mph (320kmh), and Norm Hardinge.’’

But while some people came for the vehicles, many others dressed up in their glad rags and headed for the dance floor, with rock ‘n’ roll music and performance courtesy of bands like Crazy Flatz, Yesterday’s Gentlemen, Skooterz, Miss Kitty’s Meow and Louis King and the Sun Kings.

Mrs O’Keefe  estimated the crowd at a bit more than 2000.
