The museum has dug out some old treasures, including an intriguingly retro enamel oven, to put up for grabs on October 24.
Great Western Tiers Visitor Centre manager Vicki Pryer said the initiative was a positive way to engage the community in their housekeeping.
"We have a few excess items in our garage that we'd like to move on to make space," Ms Pryer said. "They're surplus to our museum needs and thought the Garage Sale Trail was a good thing to be part of." She said the event would run from 10am to 1pm at the visitor centre car park. Part of their museum miscellany includes old spotlights from their Yarns Artwork in Silk display. "There are shop fittings out of the visitor centre, which might interesting for some people," Ms Pryer said.
"There's a good mixture of museum stuff and other bits and pieces, including a paper shredder."
She said the museum had also invited people to host a car boot sale during the event, at its Emu Bay Road site.
