BEEF and dairy entries for next week's Royal Launceston Show were on a par with last year, but sheep entries were a little lower, show chief executive Brian Bennett said.

Mr Bennett said that Holsteins would again be part of the dairy exhibition after missing last year.
"And there's a good mixture of beef cattle," he said.
"The sheep numbers are down because a couple of our regular exhibitors were unable to be here this year, but there's still a good display with a good variety of breeds.
"White Suffolk will be the feature sheep breed this year."
Mr Bennett said that the cattle would be on display for the three days of the show, but the sheep would be there only on Thursday and Friday and make way for alpacas, guinea pigs and rabbits on the Saturday.
"Alpaca entries are very strong — they're really a growth area in the agricultural show movement as they become more popular with hobby farmers and the general public," he said.
"We're also really pleased that entry to the show has not gone up for four years.
"We're quite well aware of how times have been tough for families in Tasmania in recent years, so we're trying to keep show entry as affordable as we can."
Mr Bennett said that in a change from previous shows, the animal nursery would be housed in the cattle pavilion's indoor arena.
