PRESENTING QJam. It's not the next big thing in rap music or even your mother's take on quince conserve, but rather the best way to spend your Sunday afternoons in summer.
The event sees The Examiner teaming up with Quamby Estate to present a series of festival-style events showcasing the region's singing talent.
Launceston vocalist Matthew Garwood, of The Voice fame, will host proceedings and perform at the first and last of four sessions.
Ten different performers will take the stage at the first three events, with two singers from each program chosen by the audience to progress through to the final session.
Garwood said he was thrilled to take up an MC role at the new festival.
"To showcase local talent in a local venue like Quamby Estate which is renowned for how it looks and how presentable it is and how nice it is, that's what Tasmania is about," he said.
"It's about celebrating not only the talent that we have in the arts but our natural beauty and the stuff that surrounds us which is something that not every city or state has in Australia, or around the world really."
"I don't think there's been anything quite like this."
