Members of the coxless four that won gold at the 1990 world championships at Lake Barrington and went on to dominate rowing for the next two decades will team up again at a function aimed at assisting the next generation of Olympians.
Nick Green, Mike McKay, James Tomkins and Drew Ginn represent the core of the crew that competed in assorted boats through to 2012 claiming numerous Olympic and world titles.
The distinguished quartet will be reunited at a Tasmanian Olympic Council fund-raiser set to be announced on Wednesday.
TOC president and five-time Olympian Anthony Edwards said he was delighted to have persuaded his former national rowing teammates to return to where their journey began.
"They were really keen on the idea and will be a huge drawcard for the event," Edwards said.
"On November 4, 1990, they won their first world championship in Tasmania and initiated what became known as the oarsome foursome so we thought it would be great to get them back together where it all started and generate enthusiasm in the North of the state in the build-up to Rio.
"This is about getting the whole of the state motivated about the Olympics because everyone is going to be watching and we want everyone to feel they have contributed."
