Expressions of interest for the wharf closed six weeks ago, and the state-owned company and government have been tight-lipped on the sale outcome ever since.
The landlocked wharf once served as a key woodchip export point for the state's south, until the adjoining mill was sold to entrepreneur Graeme Wood.
Mr Wood plans to transform the mill into a tourism development, and had wanted to hold onto the port to allow cruise ships to access the site.
At least three parties are understood to have expressed interest in acquiring the deep sea port.
A TasPorts spokeswoman would not put an exact time on the sale announcement, but said an outcome was imminent.
Mr Wood has been contacted for comment.
