The Hobart resident said that the bi-annual swap meets, held in Launceston's Willis Street car park, next to the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania, were always worth a visit.
"I never miss a good swap meet and Launceston has always turned it on," he said.
"Launceston, like Hobart, is one of these magic places where families have lived in the same house for the best part of 100 years.
"When these houses eventually change hands, that's when all the goodies come out and you have to be at a good swap meet to pick them up — I've picked up plenty of good things at many of them over the years.
"I've been a swap-meet addict since they invented the darn things and always look forward to Launceston."
Swap Meet convener Ken Watts said that although the event was schedule to start at 9am, stallholders were invariably checking out each other's stock as it was being set up.
Automobile museum manager Phil Costello said that the facility was offering discounted entry on the day of the swap meet.
The meet itself is free to attend, and entry for the adjacent museum will be available at discounted prices of: adult entry $9.50, children $5.75 and family tickets $24.75.
