TOMMY the Trout is safe and still on the loose in Brumbys Creek after the weekend's Tasmanian Trout Expo.
The $10,000 trout will be swimming safer on Monday during the expo's schools competition as the hefty price tag is lowered to $100.
Event president Richard Goss said about 300 people would be thrashing the water during the day, including 240 students from about 21 schools.
Mr Goss said the event was made possible each year with strong support from the Cressy community.
"It's been a great weekend - we've had about 900 fishers and the weather has been absolutely fantastic," he said on Sunday.
"Hopefully it holds out for tomorrow's competition."
The schools competition will run from 10am to 1.30pm.
