Event co-ordinator Amanda Bayles said that 15 Rural Youth members from around the state earned their places in the finals at the regional runoffs in July.

Competitors will complete a series of modules for their chance to share in a prize pool of more than $30000.

The first prize package includes a Polaris ATV and a Stihl Chainsaw from Australian Chainsaw Products.

Ms Bayles said that the regional runoffs saw competitors complete modules including farm finance, general knowledge and stock identification.

"Modules have increased difficulty in the finals stage, with 10 modules to be completed before the field is culled to the top six," she said.

"The top six will complete a final two modules involving public speaking at the presentation dinner during the evening.

"(Lyons Liberal MHR) Eric Hutchinson will attend the formal dinner and judge the public speaking module."

Ms Bayles said that she was excited about the finals.

"The region runoffs were very close and the top 15 that made the finals this year will need to bring all their skills to Quercus on the 12th, as this will be one very exciting final," she said.

Top-six place getters from the past two years, Meg Kluver-Jones, of Sandfly, Richard Petrie, of Scottsdale, and Martin McConnon, of Cressy, have all reached the finals again.

Fellow finalist Mikey Pearson, of Kingborough Huon Rural Youth, is confident of a strong showing after almost claiming the crown at the New Zealand Field Days version of the young farmer competition in June.
