Tamar Rowing Club’s Henry Youl won open oarsman of the year while clubmate Ciona Wilson shared the women’s award with Huon’s Eve Mure, and Ron Woods was named coach of the year.
Launceston Church Grammar School’s Ebony Colson shared the coxswain of the year award with Alexander Hall, of Hutchins School, while North Esk’s Patrick Bird and Ulverstone’s Michael Wilson were joint winners of the masters oarsman of the year.
Lindisfarne clubmates Rob Kennedy and Anneka Reardon won the junior oarsman and woman titles as the awards were presented by five-time Olympian and adopted Tasmanian Anthony Edwards at The Boathouse.
North Esk’s Jack Barrett was presented with The Peter Keyes Trophy for the most outstanding junior oarsperson, and Huon’s Paul Newbon landed the OGMA trophy for the most outstanding coach at national and international level.
Rowing Tasmania’s acting CEO, Rob Prescott, said it had been another successful year for the sport, and the awards recognised the performances of athletes and coaches in the state pennant regattas, state championships and national and international competition.
