The Carrick woman said the support provided by the organisation following the death of her navy veteran father Terry was invaluable.
Miss Breward and her mother Maree urged Northern Tasmanians to donate to the organisation for Legacy Week.
‘‘My dad was in the navy in World War II and passed away shortly after I was born,’’ Miss Breward said.
‘‘At the time I was too young, and I was too young for a long time to understand what Legacy did for me.
‘‘They paid for any school costs and were always there to support me – Mum didn’t have to worry about those sorts of things.
‘‘It is so important that people have this support.’’
Launceston Legacy secretary Kevin Evorall, Miss Breward’s Legatee, said the organisation helped about 1500 war widows in Northern Tasmania with financial and bureaucratic support.
He said need for Legacy’s help was growing as families suffered the effects of the Afghanistan and East Timor conflicts.
Cadets will be collecting for Legacy in various spots throughout Launceston on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
