The former Launceston singer-songwriter has again teamed up with music partner in drummer Hamish Stuart for the album, with the duo setting out to "showcase our duet sound".
"We had been toying around with how to make this record for a while and when we were touring in Europe last year the opportunity arose to spend a couple of days in a studio in Berlin so we thought we would jump in and see what happens," Thorne told X-static.
"It was fun because our expectation was so low, as there was no pressure and after 10 days we had the guts of 10 songs that sounded like an album.
"Because we recorded in such a live way, we thought we captured that energy and playfulness of us just playing in a room together."
Liking to create albums that are a whole piece of work, rather than just one or two standouts, was another focus for Thorne, something she believed she achieved.
"I love them when they have a beginning and an end and a shape to them.
"All the songs need to stand up on their own, but I love the process of shaping a whole complete piece of work and that is part of the joy of making records for me."
Thorne and Stuart will bring the sounds of Everything Sings Tonight to Tasmania this weekend, including a show at Fresh on Saturday.
Thorne, who is now based in Melbourne, said she couldn't wait to bring the songs 'home'.
"We are playing songs and the poetry of the lyrics is front and centre for us, and we are just trying to create a sonic bed for that text to sit in.
"I feel this collection may have expanded the sonic pallete a little bit, with some more freedom and moments which are more adventurous and expansive."
They will be supported by Jimmy Dowling in Tasmania.
"He is a beautiful poet and there is a little bit of Tom Waites in there and will set the scene and then Hame and I will obviously play a lot of stuff from the new album, but we'll be dipping in and out of the back catalogue as well.
"There is also a fair chance the three of us will also join forces."
Thorne will also play at Hobart, Falmouth and Deloriane.
