Figures published in the media on Saturday showed Riverside also held the highest enrolment numbers for Tasmanian primary schools.

Parents and Friends Association head Jenny Eddington said she was surprised to see Launceston College marked as the least-funded college per head.

"I was quite amazed at the figures that were run by me," Ms Eddington said.

"I was surprised about how little some of the schools were getting.

"I'll be having some interesting conversations tomorrow - this has come out of the blue."

She said Launceston College was the only school not to take part in the Tasmania Tomorrow initiative.

"I don't know why they would have dropped down to a lower level," Ms Eddington said.

"I think some of the colleges that went into Tasmania Tomorrow had some adjustment stuff for funding when it was no longer happening.

"Whether that's the difference in how that formula is still panning out for Launceston College, I don't know."

Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said the government was delivering $1.44 billion to the education sector this year, including a five per cent minimum funding allocation.

"School funding is allocated according to student need," Mr Rockliff said.

"These needs can include literacy and numeracy standards, socio-economic characteristics and disability."

He cited the Fairer Funding deal as benefiting schools across the state in terms of addressing provisional and service needs.

"Fairer Funding, Gonski, is allocated according to the heads of agreement, an agreement negotiated and agreed to by the then Labor-Green government," Mr Rockliff said.

"This model distributed funding based on factors such as the number of students enrolled and the geographic location of the school."
