Emergency services were called to the blaze in Hardwicke Street just before 5pm on Monday.
The fire was eventually brought under control, but the homeowner can expect a damage bill of up to $80,000.
No one was home at the time of the incident.
Fire crews and police investigated the scene for much of Tuesday morning and the blaze was eventually determined to be an accident.
