The 164-centimetre tall barista and personal trainer can deadlift 140 kilograms, and she recently did so to claim her first win in the Strongman Tasmania competition.
Round one of the series was held on July 18 and saw about 25 competitors from around the state gather at the MoveStrong Gymnasium in Devonport.
Miss McCarroll is a former contestant in natural physique bodybuilding contests, and says she’s been ‘‘religiously’’ lifting weights for the last two to three years.
To take the title in the women’s under-63.5 kilogram, she had to complete timed 130 kilogram tyre lifts, 40 kilogram keg lifts, 50 kilogram stone-over-yokes, a 140-kilogram axle bar deadlift, and a farmer’s carry with two 65-kilogram weights.
Miss McCarroll said she enjoyed ‘‘lifting heavy things’’.
She trains six days a week, mostly strength training – including training with the truck tyres in her backyard.
The next Strongman Tasmania round will be held at CrossFit 42 South in Hobart on September 5, before returning to Launceston on October 17.
