These Launceston athletes have worked through injuries and strains to be the best Northern competitors to compete in Saturday’s Miss Pole Dance Tasmania competition.
Pole Revolutions’ Hannah Mulligan, Preah Tulk, Tara Richards, Mia Moore and Danielle Dent are no strangers to success in the rising sport.
Tulk said she started pole dancing with friends about a year ago.
Although her friends did not continue with lessons, she said she was driven to continue to achieve new goals.
‘‘I wanted to do it since I was 14 ... I came into this when I quit the gym,’’ Tulk said.
Richards said she competed for the first time last year and gained third place after only six months of training.
She said that despite her passion to improve, the competition was no more than a test of progression for her.
Mulligan won last year’s intermediate class, and is entering alongside fellow dancer and instructor Danielle Dent in the synchronised category.
She said strained joints,
bashed forearms, bruised shoulders and more were all part of the learning process.
