Launceston CIB is searching for a man who sexually assaulted an elderly woman in her West Launceston home.

Police say a man entered the woman's home about 1.40am on Wednesday and sexually assaulted her.
Detective Inspector John King said the man was described as being of a slim build with possibly an olive skin complexion, and was softly spoken.
Detective Inspector King said the man was wearing dark coloured clothing and a hooded top.
"He was in an agitated state. Anyone who saw a man fitting this description in the [West Launceston area on Wednesday] or recognises the description is asked to contact Launceston CIB," he said.
