A $500,000 project plan to build four arenas on eight hectares of land at the Henry Street property was flagged by the council early this week.
It has been 11 years in the making, and Launceston Paintball at Glebe Gardens manager Hanna Graham said they were hoping to open in November this year.
‘‘We were given the thumbs up in June this year – it’s been a long waiting process at this stage, but all our bits and pieces are in place,’’ Ms Graham said.
‘‘There are the outlines of the paintball regulations, but the details haven’t been released by Tasmania Police yet.
‘‘We’re getting the hint that they will be released in the next month or two.’’
The development would see construction of a pro shop on the Glebe site, as well as a potential fifth arena for tournaments.
Ms Graham said there was already a lot of outside interest in the development.
‘‘I’m pretty sure almost everyone in Launceston knows about it,’’ she said.
‘‘I’m absolutely stoked about it, I love talking to people about it, and soon we’ll be looking at employment,’’ she said.
Ms Graham said that if approval was gained, they would establish a club and a competitive team for state, national and potentially international competition.
