The Southern Magpies have been the yardstick of the competition this season with an 11-1 record and pose a formidable challenge for the disappointing Storm, who find themselves at the opposite end of the ladder with an 1-11 result.
"It's a huge challenge for us this week against Glenorchy and they have had a really good year to date and obviously the tables have turned from last season when we played them and it was probably us on top and them struggling a little bit," Storm coach Mitch Hills said.
"We've got six games to go and our boys are pretty desperate to finish the year on a good note and the best way to probably do that is to take a few scalps on the way out and that is what we are intent on starting to do this week."
Hills said the week off for the bye had been beneficial with the team having a big block of hard training and his players were enthusiastic about putting in a good performance on Saturday and finishing the year on a strong note.
"Glenorchy are impressive and their good players have been outstanding so we will have to make sure our match-ups are right on them but for us it is all about who turns up to play," he said.
"Every game we've played, if we start well and show intent we are right in the game - and if we do that against Glenorchy I think that will be the same - but last start we were poor and had a poor start and that flowed through to the result.
"So the message to the boys is to really start well with intent."
Western Storm will be without ruckman Cody Thorp, who has a lower leg injury and will miss a second straight game.
Mitch Hodgetts returns from the Mariners and Thane Bardenhagen made his return through the development league last week and will play seniors on Saturday following his return from an overseas trip.
Haydn Smith and Tyran Mansell were also recalled.
Glenorchy has regained a quartet of Mariners including state under-18 captain Jordan Hayden, Brady Quinn, Mitch Rainbird and Harrison Pearce.
