The focus will start on Sunday with a mental health walkathon beginning at Peppers York Cove.
Rotary Club of George Town community services director Pam Johns said the organisation supported mental health "in a big way".
Funds raised at the event will be directed to Tasmanian Rural Alive and Well, beyondblue and the Australian Rotary Foundation.
"We haven't had a walkathon before," Mrs Johns said.
She said about 100 people were expected to participate in the event and encouraged people to ignore the potential of inclement weather and participate regardless.
"It's a chance to reconnect as a community, to have a really good family time, catch up and say hello to people you don't see every day."
Later events happening in the region include the second annual Doing Life Together, a family fun day aimed at bringing the community together.
"When I was a young kid in George Town, we used to have family events at the beach sponsored by the big industries," Mrs Johns said.
"There was a real sense of community alive.
"In this modern world we don't have that real sense of community."
Next year, Rotary will lead a 40-day caravan and motor home tour throughout the state promoting mental health.
"We've had to close the books off because it's been so well-prescribed," Mrs Johns said.
