The survey of more than 500 electors in both Bass and Lyons, commissioned by The Examiner and conducted last Thursday night, revealed more than 30 per cent of people in each electorate said health was of most importance.
Health was the most critical issue among both men and women in Lyons, as well as among each age group above 35.
In Bass, the economy just pipped health as the most important issue for males, while health was the key concern among females and most age groups.
Meanwhile, about a quarter of Bass voters indicated jobs were most important, with almost 22 per cent of those in Lyons saying the same.
Jobs were the most pressing issue among the youngest electors surveyed in both seats, who were aged between 18 and 34.
About one in 10 voters cited education as their most pressing issue.
Eight per cent of Bass electors highlighted the environment as their key concern, with the number slightly higher in Lyons.
Almost half of Greens supporters in Bass indicated the environment was the most important issue facing them, with almost 42 per cent of those in Lyons saying the same.
Less than 5 per cent of voters in both electorates indicated law and order was at the forefront of issues facing them.
Just 3.7 cent of Lyons electors, and 6.3 per cent of those in Bass said same-sex marriage was their number one issue.
