Last week, Telstra announced that its new 4GX service would soon be available statewide.
While the upgrade does not guarantee the network won't overload in future, it does reduce the likelihood.
Outraged residents and tourists told The Examiner of their frustration over summer, after the Telstra network became overloaded and shut down for more than a week.
Scamander resident Randall Trethewie hosted family from interstate in December.
He said he and his family were unable to message one another or connect to the internet and were forced to travel to St Marys for coverage.
Mr Trethewie said he was pleased to hear pressure had been eased on the network on the East Coast.
"This will be a tremendous boost," he said last week.
"There's always an overload around Christmas and Easter, so it's good that they are making provisions to try and avoid that in future."
Telstra Country Wide Tasmanian general manager Michael Patterson said the upgrade would be a boost to businesses, residents and visitors.
"As the first carrier to bring 4G mobile services to regional Australia, we know how important high-speed mobile can be to supporting local businesses, tourism and making regional centres great places to live," he said.
The federal government has also announced a $5.2 million package to help reduce black spots on the East Coast. The Lyons funding package will see new base stations established at the following places:
