The Thistles led by 14 points at quarter-time and extended their advantage to 21 at half-time.
The margin blew out to 37 points at three-quarter-time and although the home side stormed home in the final quarter kicking five goals to one - the Thistles held on to record a 9.13 (67) to 8.8 (56) victory.
Evandale remained in second place on the ladder, despite suffering their second defeat of the season, some six points clear of Old Scotch in third - but the win will boost the Thistles' confidence looking towards finals.
Jock Darke and Shaun Muller kicked two goals each for Old Scotch with Alex McKenzie judged best on ground. Dan Ellis, Shaun Smith and Lachie McFadzean were other good players for the Thistles.
Michael Rainbow was the Eagles' best goalkicker with three and Shaun Collis booted two.
Tyler Brown and coach James Conroy were the best for Evandale.
UNI-MOWBRAY moved into fourth spot on the ladder at Prospect's expense courtesy of their good win at Beauty Point over the Tamar Cats.
In a good game of football, only a couple of goals separated the two teams at each quarter break but Uni-Mowbray finished the better, storming home with seven goals to two in the final quarter to record a 19.17 (131) to 14.12 (96) victory.
Lochie Duncombe played well with five goals up forward and Shannon Mulvey also kicked five to be in the Eagles' top players, with Rohan Willis, Isaac Peters and Daniel Brown also good.
Christian Murfet was the Cats' best goalkicker with three. Simon Edmunds and Marc Davey were their standout players.
The defeat puts the Cats three games outside the top five and probably puts paid to their finals hopes.
MEANDER VALLEY continued their improved form to knock off Prospect Hawks with a 13.17 (95) to 9.18 (72) victory in their game at Prospect Park.
The Suns have had three wins and a draw against Evandale in the past month but remain in sixth spot.
The defeat proved costly for the Hawks as they slipped from fourth to fifth.
Alex Wadley kicked four goals for the Suns with Charlie Eastoe judged best on ground and Kalyn Eady and Aiden Nunn were other good players.
Jacob Knight booted four goals for the Hawks with Lucas Crawford their best player.
LILYDALE grabbed win number three for the season with a hard-fought 12.17 (89) to 12.8 (80) victory over Old Launcestonians at Lilydale.
In another good contest, nothing separated the two teams all day in a real dogfight but the Demons did enough in the final quarter to record a much-needed win.
Billy Tuckerman starred with a six-goal effort up forward and veteran Andrew McLean showed he can still play a good game of football by being named best on ground.
Kevin Rowbottom booted four goals for the Blues with Chae and Ashley Evans showing the way as their best players.
