The Spirit had a tough time in Brisbane last weekend going down in a close game 50-44 to Queensland Fusion before a bigger defeat to the stronger Southern Force (SA) team, 65-39, the following day.
"We played well against the Fusion on the Saturday night and were in the contest for a fair bit of the game before slipping away in the second half," Tassie Spirit coach Jon Fletcher said.
"I was pleased with their effort and our defensive intensity was outstanding - we played a good game, but just ran out of a bit of steam in the end and inexperience cost us when it counted, unfortunately and we lost by six.
"Against Southern Force we had a small turnaround of less than 12 hours and we got a bad start and found ourselves down 15 goals at quarter-time.
"But then we came out and won the second quarter, so I was happy that we regrouped and made a couple of adjustments.
"But the Force are a very good team and we struggled to back up two games in a row."
Fletcher praised the efforts of the Spirits' two import players Maggie Lind and Sam Gooden in the Fusion game and was pleased with local girls Ashton Whiley and Estelle Margetts against the Force.
"They both had their best games for the two years that they have been in the Spirit program so I was really pleased with them against tough opposition."
Tassie Spirit meet the Victorian Fury, Northern Territory Fury and Western Sting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday next weekend in Hobart.
"We will take the whole squad of 15 to Hobart and rotate those through the court time, but it will be a tough weekend, but we are hopeful of putting up a good showing," Fletcher said.
