The Tornadoes are coming off a morale-boosting win at home over Dandenong last Saturday but coach Reece Potter knows his side has two more big challenges in their quest to play finals.
‘‘I thought Dandenong was a really good team performance. There was a massive crowd there and a high-intensity game and I thought our group did well to get a win out of that,’’ Potter said.
‘‘There are still things we can improve on; we had 20 turnovers out of the game and we weren’t too happy with that and probably got caught up in the atmosphere of it all and played more quickly than we wanted to at times.
‘‘But, overall, we did a really good job to control it and to compete and play together and it was impressive and I was really proud with the way they go about it and they showed great focus and determination.’’
Potter said there were no easy games in the league but their two road-trip matches this weekend were ‘‘probably as tough as it gets’’.
‘‘Hobart in Hobart haven’t lost a game this year and it is a fortress down there and will be a great challenge,’’ he said.
‘‘But we definitely want to go down there and knock them off on their home court.
‘‘There is always a bit more when you play against Hobart but, the way it is sitting this year, it is a massive game.
‘‘The Geelong game on Sunday is really important as well and they beat us here by four points and we need to go and get one back on them but we also need to keep winning for our own chances of making the play-offs alive and potentially a home final. It’s a massive weekend and really tough with lots of kilometres.
‘‘We have to drive to Hobart and back and then the flight to Melbourne and the drive to Geelong and back and then the following weekend we go to Bendigo and Dandenong, so a massive nine days for the girls and the club. But after that there are just single games and we can take it a game at a time from there.’’
The Tornadoes will be without Emilee Harmon again but Potter said the two games represented another challenge for the team to stick together and try to find a way to get it done.
