Miller, 20, achieved six world titles at the Down Syndrome World Championships in Mexico as well as five long-course world records, five national short-course records and seven long-course records.
Miller took out the shield for the fastest long-course 50metres freestyle for a male swimmer 17 and over; a head coach’s award for performance at the state long-course championships; the 17 and over male age champion; the multi-class club champion; and the trophy awarded to the South Esk club champion swimmer.
The club also recognised the contribution that JoEllen Batchelor had made to South Esk over a number of years as a long-standing committee member, a club coach and statistician.
The night began with a presentation of photographs from the past year followed by a welcome from club president Jayne Shepherd. About 140 guests attended the dinner at the Tailrace Centre, Riverside.
Other award winners were: fastest short-course 50m free, (F, 16 and under) – Georgia Arnold; (M, 16 and under) – Joseph Cockburn; fastest long-course 50m free (F, 16 and under) – Georgia Arnold; (M, 16 and under) – Kit de Jonge; (F, 17/over) – Courtney Brooks. Swimmers with highest placing in national championships: (F) Morgen Hawkins; (M) Kit de Jonge. Stroke champions — distance swimmer (800m, 1500m) and breast: Thomas Clarke; backstroke, freestyle (50m-400m): James Curran; butterfly: Angus Robertson. 400m IM: Morgen Hawkins.
