A blue Hyundai Accent and a red Ford Explorer collided at the Wellington and Howick street intersection just after 7am on Tuesday and resulted in one of the drivers being trapped in their vehicle.
Fire crews were able to free the person about 8am and both drivers were taken to the nearby Launceston General Hospital with minor injuries.
The scene was cleared soon after.
Tasmania Police and the Tasmanian Ambulance Service were unable to reveal the gender and age of either driver.
Last December, the Wellington and Howick Street junction was listed as a Tasmanian crash hotspot, alongside the Wellington and Brisbane Street junction and the corner of George Town and Vermont roads.
