One Jetstar flight from Brisbane had to be diverted to Hobart, and a Virgin Australia flight from Sydney was rerouted back to Melbourne.
Jetstar was forced to cancel nine flights due to the weather, with flights also cancelled by Virgin Australia and Qantas.
A Jetstar spokesman said the company apologised to all passengers whose travel plans had been interrupted.
``Low lying fog has prevented aircraft from arriving at Launceston Airport throughout the day and resulted in a series of delays and some cancellations,'' he said.
``Continued poor weather forecast for (Tuesday night) through to early (Wednesday) morning has resulted in the cancellation of a number of flights in and out of Launceston.
``We have arranged to accommodate all passengers on alternative services (on Wednesday).''
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast fog for Wednesday.
Virgin Australia has been contacted for comment.
